Bangladesh posted 274 for five in the final ODI as they pushed for a historic 3–0 series sweep over Australia, with Towhid Hridoy anchoring the innings and Mosaddek Hossain adding late acceleration in difficult heat and humidity at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.

Brief scores: Bangladesh 274 for 5 (Towhid Hridoy 83, Litton Das 58 not out, Mosaddek Hossain 56 not out) vs Australia.

The innings was in the balance at 61 for three before Hridoy and Litton rebuilt with 92 for the fourth wicket. Litton retired hurt but returned in the 49th over, and Bangladesh kept momentum through a 93-run stand in 83 balls between Hridoy and Mosaddek. Mosaddek’s second fifty of the series came from 42 deliveries.

Australia deserve credit for restricting the damage late on — only 32 runs came from the last five overs — yet 274 still looked a demanding target for a batting line-up struggling for consistency.

Bangladesh chose to bat first and again lost an opener early. Xavier Bartlett removed Soumya Sarkar second ball with an inside edge onto the stumps, extending a pattern of opening stands failing to survive the first over in this series.

Early movement made life awkward against the new ball, but stand-in captain Najmul Hossain Shanto — leading in place of the concussed Mehidy Hasan Miraz — and Tanzid Hasan negotiated the opening phase. Shanto drove Bartlett through midwicket in the sixth over and Tanzid lofted him for six over mid-off to break the shackles.

Runs flowed steadily through the remainder of the powerplay until Matt Renshaw struck in his first over, removing Tanzid with a slog-sweep to mid-on. Renshaw’s offspin has been a rare bright spot for Australia and he struck again when Shanto bottom-edged a sweep onto his stumps, leaving Bangladesh 61 for three in the 15th over.

Hridoy and Litton rebuilt patiently, rotating strike and picking off boundaries at intervals. Litton shifted gears in the 26th over with four and six off consecutive Riley Meredith deliveries, but cramp forced him off the field in the 32nd over before he later resumed.

As Hridoy moved toward a half-century, Mosaddek attacked from the start, reaching a run-a-ball tempo with three boundaries in five balls against Meredith and Ben Dwarshuis. Hridoy eyed a second ODI hundred but fell for 83 picking out deep midwicket, and Bangladesh could not quite finish with the flourish they wanted.

Bangladesh made two changes, resting fast bowler Nahid Rana alongside the unavailable Mehidy after his head injury in the second match. Australia dropped Matt Short after three ducks in a row and rested Nathan Ellis, recalling players used earlier in the Pakistan series.

The ODI start clashed with Australia’s FIFA World Cup opener against Turkey, and the local broadcaster carried the football on its main channel ahead of the cricket.
